ABOUT BENNO REICHARD
designer + engineer
I aim to create products with a convincing functionality and a conclusive elegancy. Every commodity should be positively experienced as promised by its appearance. I always intend to design sustainable products which last long, spare natural resources and reduce waste.
The essential experience I gained in the development team for mountaineering equipment at >MAMMUT in Switzerland (2008-2016). Everything textile and techy was my asset – like climbing harnesses, via ferrata sets, slings, ropes, chalk bags and rope bags. The gained expertise was next to defining shape, color, material and workmanship of mainly textile products also the engineering/testing of load bearing textile constructions all the way to certification and QA definition.
During a very instructive and eye-opening internship at >HELD+Team in Hamburg (2006/07) I got an insight in the world of Medical Design for six months. I supported projects in the field of medical equipment design, care equipment design and user interface design.
I was born and raised in Dresden, Germany during the 80s and 90s. In my hometown I studied mechanical engineering at the >TU Dresden and majored in industrial design engineering (“Technisches Design”). During two years abroad in Texas and France during my education period I learned to communicate in English and French. Since 2008 I live in Zürich, Switzerland.

Since a couple of years I have the pleasure to say that I am a family man and proud father of two smart and funny kids with a fantastic mother.
Traveling out of the inspiring and beloved urban Zürich balances me out – since a couple of years mainly by means of a VW Bus having realized that I don‘t need to go far to experience a lot. Besides shores it’s mountains that captivate me. I really enjoy the Swiss Alps for all kinds of recreation like rock climbing, skiing and even just simply hiking.
Further I consider myself a passionate musician, having received a classical education on the violin, played the bass guitar in several bands on different kinds of stages (clubs, festivals, street) and released two albums in the past. At the moment I play mostly the violin in a trio with a pianist and a second violinist.
